Mercy, mercy, Mercedes !

Happened to see/hear you on Utube. As I'm old enough to be your father; I hope you take my comments to heart.

Your interest in Brasillian music is a breath of fresh air for me. I felt this music to be to sophisticated for a generation that thinks Lauren Hill's version of 'Killing Me Softly' is better than Roberta Flack's. But you, and your friends, restored my faith in this music and your generation.

As a drummer/percussionist from Buffalo, NY; it's great to know that we from the Great Lakes have such an affinity for Brasil.
The first recordings of Getz and Gilberto featured bassist, Gene Cherico; a Buffalonian. And, my first exposure to Bossa Nova and Samba was a concert that had Sergio Mendes & BRASIL'66 opening for the Righteous Brothers.

I find Gilberto Gil; G. Veloso; and Djavan to be the 'sleepers' as song writers around here. But, I was wondering if you do any Milton Nasciemento or Moacir Santos tunes in your repertoire ?

So, thanx for your time and if any of your musical incarnations ever want to play in the B-lo; let me know. I know a few club owners that may be interested. I'll leave an e-mail address on your home page.

Gil doesn't look quite as crazed as he did in some other of Marylee's pictures from this event. What at thrill to actually meet him!
